When a client walks in the door with a cool party idea already in mind, it’s our absolute pleasure to make that concept come to life!

Such was the case with a recent Bar Mitzvah in South Jersey. Our clients are devoted steakhouse lovers and challenged Event Designer extraordinaire, Arlene Bluestein, to create that same sense of warmth and sophistication for their son’s Bar Mitzvah celebration. Working with a rich palette of reds, browns, taupes and metals, Arlene transformed the halls of Congregation Beth El in Voorhees, New Jersey into Jared K’s Steakhouse.  {Photos courtesy of Philip Gabriel Photography}

Guests were entertained on every level, from the delicious foodie-approved menu to the fire-branded chalkboard seating boards and rustic wooden tables, to the engaging soccer ball performer, energetic entertainment and dramatic red lighting. But that’s not all. Waiters from Barclay Caterers took table-side dinner orders from leather bound menus. Custom-made mahogany bars were placed in the main “dining room” complete with  leather bar stools and drink menus featured classic American cocktails.

When it came to designing the main dining room, Arlene lined the room with curved leather banquettes with round tables as well as rectangular family-sized tables. But the upscale steakhouse feel didn’t end there, red silk lamps, modern distressed wooden candle holders, contemporary glass hurricanes, lush low floral centerpieces and tall palm trees were layered into the scheme for dramatic effect.

Jared and his friends were seated at high community tables centered in the main dining room, allowing them the best (and fastest) access to the dance floor. The always rockin’ band LA Stars kept the crowd dancing all night long!  The adults’ dined on intimate tables holding low centerpieces filled with flowers in deep red tones, such as amaryllis, tulips, roses, hydrangea, orchids and hypericum berry. Even the party favors were branded right on theme, and included short sleeved t-shirts for the boys and burnout hoodies for the girls, all rolled into “fire branded” tubes that also included tins of  mints.

No detail was left to the imagination and the collaboration between Arlene and her client couldn’t have been better! … and then there was the fabulous sports-themed cake from Classic Cake Co. to bring it all home. Mazel Tov Jared!

REAL STORIES: A Modern Black and Gold Mitzvah

April 2, 2013
modern black and gold party design bat mitzvah decor
Although temporarily overshadowed by a period of silver, chrome and nickel, GOLD has made a triumphant comeback in the design world. The cultured and regal aesthetic of this vibrant precious metal has proven to be timeless and enduring in its appeal. Particularly when we can turn it up a notch {or two or three} and take it to glamorous heights for a chic bar mitzvah celebration at The Rittenhouse. With a modern palette of metallic gold, glossy black and crisp white, we transformed the Grand Ballroom into a contemporary lounge setting that both adults and kids enjoyed.
First things first, we draped the walls with rich black velvet drape and placed a large sexy bar right in the middle of the room. From there, orbiting like planets around the Gold Bar, we installed a custom dance floor, a variety of furniture groupings for cozy seating vignettes and various trendy food stations. Yet another incredible celebration that was designed around the client’s wish for “something different” and “something fabulous”…

MITZVAHS: Bringing the Jersey Shore to The Rittenhouse for Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah

January 30, 2013

beach carousel jersey boardward party inspiration

We love when clients walk in the door with a fun party concept that’s derived from cherished family memories. For Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah celebration, our inspiration came directly from our young client’s love of the Jersey Shore. Particularly, her love for carousels, ferris wheels and boardwalk arcades. With this fabulous collage of brightly-hued and vintage-toned beach scenes as inspiration, we managed to gather up plenty of playful ideas for her boardwalk birthday party.

REAL STORIES: A True Blue B’Nai Mitzvah with a Modern Chic Vibe

September 26, 2012

modern urban loft venues for parties philadelpha locations evantine design

One of our favorite party formats is to transform a traditional sit-down family celebration into a modern cocktail setting. While some entertaining purists find this a little unorthodox in formality, we know that for the right client, a casual chic party lounge environment works beautifully! Luckily for us, for this hip B’Nai Mitzvah we had the ideal family who not only asked us for something nontraditional, but whom also embraced our efforts from location selection to event design and party management. Armed with their trust in our planning and design skills, we orchestrated a cool, modern Bohemian-style lounge that everyone enjoyed. Take a look…

MITZVAHS: Just a Peek at Dylan’s Modern Bar Mitzvah at the Four Seasons Philadelphia

April 17, 2012

Once again, we managed to transform the Grand Ballroom at The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia into something FABULOUS!!! (we’re so humble). But seriously, you know you’ve really done an incredible job when the first person who walks into the room is so thrilled that she cries with joy! It’s that unscripted reaction that keeps us juiced week after week of planning parties all over Philadelphia. We truly love what we do!  Saturday’s bar mitzvah celebration was hip, cool and transparently BLUE. Crisp and contemporary lines in white, lucite, metal and glass gave the event design a masculine edginess in the usually traditional setting. Architectural floral designs with imported flowers, like purple King Allium, blue Delphinium, green Goddess Calla Lilies and chartreuse Cymbidium Orchids. Not to mention the light up furniture, lucite chairs, white fringe draping and dramatic lighting effects complete the design. There really is nothing like seeing your design vision come together!

Tease me, please me… We just had to share these GORGEOUS photos from Jessica’s glamorous Bat Mitzvah celebration from this past Saturday night at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia.

Black draping, Black Micro Sequin Linens, White Vinyl Chairs, Magenta flowers and exquisite details all blended beautifully together for a luxurious Chanel-inspired celebration! One of the most fantastic details of the night was the letterpressed, die-cut perfume bottle menu from Two PaperdollsShown below, guests were greeted by stunning black and white photographs of the bat mitzvah, a budding fashionista just like her stylish mother! The photos were framed above mirror-topped “makeup counters” dressed with houndstooth fabric and which held mirrored compacts that served as seating cards.

There is just so much to share on this event as our wonderful client enjoyed clever details as much as we did… if not more so!  As soon as more photos become available, we’ll have them up to share!
